Sketch Challenge

For the first Scrapbuddies Crop of 2012 on the 15th January we're having a Sketch Challenge. Here is one of the archive Pagemap sketch.

Here's the example that is show with the sketch, so forget to take the person's name who made it.

And this is my layout using the combination of both the sketch and the Example.
There is a couple of rules 1 you can prepare for the layout choosing papers, photos, emebellishments etc but you have to make the layout at the crop.
2 Have fun.

The snowman layout is October's class and you will need

1 stripey paper
3 Co-ordinating dotty Bazzill type cardstock ( you can use plain but the dotty type makes an interesting texture)
3 sheets of white cardstock
2 sheets of card stock the same colour I think this is the navy in layout.

The month hasn't been confirmed for this layout but you need a large Christmas design to cut out for example the one that Janet used is Bo Bunny with snowflakes, swirls and baubles, we thought if we do this after Christmas the chances you won't be able to get Christmas papers.
So you need
I pattern paper with a large design to cute out
2 dotty design paper but you could do it in plain
I stripey paper
2 red cardstock
Another 2 plain card stock well thats whats written on my list.

This month Sheila did the class. The class was really about styling the photograph to catch the eye but every one loved Sheila layout.

This is a copy from the e-mail I had from Sheila for the class on Sunday.

1 photograph 7ins by 5ins Landscape. You will be cutting it so it would be a good idea to bring a copy rather than the original.
! 12 x 12 sheet of Bazzill in a colour to suit the photo.
2 sheets of patterned paper to co ordinate
any embellishments of your own choice

There will be a competition with a prize for the most popular layout.

it is not a difficult layout. So how people embellish it will be how effective it looks.

Here's the Pagemaps sketch for July's Challenge pay no attention to the size of photo unless thats what you want to work from.

This is the Design Team example I think the only thing I followed the was tape measure.

This is mine, I used normal 4 by 6 photos but cut them down to size to suit me and I used most of it for photos.

Of course there was a bit of chatting going on wouldn't be a good crop without putting the worlds to rights.

The one below here is mine interpretation of the sketch. I'm pretty certain you recognise the person in the photos and the colours just had to be PINK.

I will be bringing the layout with me, the colours look better in real life.

Sheila's Class

This months class is from Sheila.
You will need 5 sheets of plain card in toning colours or
2 sheets of plain card and 3 patterned paper all of which co-ordinate.
The colours don't matter its personal choice.
If you want to take photos you will need 1 6x4 inches and 6 3 inches square. Sheila recommends to use copies of photos as you will be cropping them.
It sounds complicated but it is very straightforward and Sheila will have complete sets of instructions for everyone plus a photocopy of the finished page.

Janet was teaching a couple of layout classes, the one you can see below and she cut out all the parts on the cricut for everyone. She must of been dreaming of reindeers for days.
Janet also did a class with simple Snow layout.
Janet has recently had an operations and we all wish her a speedy recovery.

Sorry but having a senior moment but can't remember this scrapbuddies name, I want to say Clare but don't hold me to it, but here layout was coming along lovely.

This is the envelope book we will be making. Fairy Karen is teaching it.

Sorry I haven't had time to decorate it but I was going to make another and just use this one as an example.
But you will need.
1 Sheet of 12 by 12 card stock but since we don't know how big the envelopes are bring another piece or one in a contrasting colour.
I Sheet of pattern paper.
I metre of Ribbon but this is for the closure and for the tags.
I've used a brad but you could use all sorts embellishments.
Karen is supplying the envelopes.
This tag book is ideal for a brag book or a gift to give someone and even to put on a scrapbook page for extra photos.

We are lucky to have some talented scrapbookers with us and one of them is Rachel.

I couldn't bear seeing these gorgeous layouts taken out of their protective covers even though it does take better photos but they are so loved by their owner I would hate for anything to happen to them. But you can still how remarkable they are even in their covers.

Sorry for the blurring photos folks, I was suffering from severe jetlag and coming down with man flu (a cold). It didn't help being forced to scrapbook by my evil sister who only did one layout to my two!

This will be the layout FairyKaren will be doing on Sunday, I shall bring with me a few border punches so you will have a choice and not just scallops. Hopefully FairyKaren will bring the tag punches but they don't call her Fairy for nothing.
You will need 2 plain 12 by 12 cardstock and some scraps for the tags. There is three patterned pieces but I think you could probably used co-ordinated scraps left over from previous layouts.
Nikki is now a Stampin Up demonstrater so if you're interested have a chat with her.

Christmas Games

One of the games we played were the best dressed Snowman, almost everyone joined in and thanks Sophie who popped over to the garage to get some smarties and jelly tots, they just wouldn't look so fab if you hadn't.

Some were just downright scary!

And the winner was the Cowboy Snowman, such a shame to eat it.

I forgot to take photos of the secret santa, possibly because I was laughing so much at Fairy Karen who was hovering over the pressie table, frightening anyone who went near her choice of pressie.

So last year's Elf has turned into a Christmas Fairy.
The Christmas Fairy brought with her this yummy Gingerbread House which nobody wanted to be the first to eat into.
Thank you everyone for the lovely plates of food, we had just the right balance of savoury and sweet.

So what did Janet do at the crop, she spent most of the time cricut-ting holly for every one.

So what craft will Janet be doing at December crop to find out you need to be there on December 6th.
It will be our last for 2009 so a bit of party atmosphere is called for, we're asking for you to bring a plate of food suitable for a finger buffet.
Also if you would like to take part in Secret Santa, you just need to bring a wrapped present of £5 it doesn't need to be craft stuff but you do need to bring a present to receive one.
There will be a mystery kit class too, so plenty of things to do at this month's crop.

A great time was had at the September crop although I wasn't there but I have it on good authority that it was a good day. I don't have any pics ready to blog, I need to sort out the ones Sis sent me in like 6 messages some with photos, some with all the photos and some that just won't work.
I have to crop and resize them so they don't use of too much of the allocated space for them.
I do have these photos from August from Doreen's (not the one that belongs to me) mini book and cd tin.

I do have some photos of the acetate album from FairyKaren but we pop that on nearer to the October crop and I must remember to take a photo of Sis stitched layout that FairyKaren taught.

We had a fabulous time at the crop last Sunday and Sheila brought her scrapbook which I've mention to sneak some pictures of.
Some people weren't even scrapbooking Doreen and Nannette were very industrious making Wedding Invitations and even I was colouring images for the cards,
Hopefully next time I get to do some Scrapbooking.
Off to take MIL home so hopefully next week I shall have sorted the pic of Karen and her tutorial.

Hi Everyone.

We had our first crop of the Year Yesterday.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. We had a few new faces.

I think alot of catching up and a bit of scrapping was the order of the day!!!

Woke up this morning to 14 inches of snow and it is still coming down.

The photos above show how deep it is.

We have a looney cocker spaniel, I know he hasn't got the longest legs in the world however he was up to his shoulders.

We are trying to help the poor birds with food.

Vic -my husband- got the metal table we use in the garden and an old tray, we pilled it up with food for them. The blackbirds, robbins, tits and sparrows have found it.

No one is going to work today so hopefully I will get a bit of scrapping done........ who am I kidding!!!
